The snow today (Wednesday 6th January) in Hertingfordbury and along the school drive, coupled with the difficult driving conditions in the area made it very easy to decide to close the school. However, tomorrow's forecast, although for very low temperatures, suggests that there will be no more snow. I've used both the BBC and Accu-Weather.
Therefore, I will make a final decision tomorrow morning by 7:30am.
If school is open, please be aware of the following arrangements:
- Only make journeys if the conditions are safe.
- Tomorrow will be a non-uniform day. To be able to play outside, children must wear boots or Wellingtons to school and bring indoor shoes, a change of trousers and spare socks in a school bag. They must also wear a warm coat, hat and gloves. Children not properly dressed or equipped will remain indoors at break times.
- All cars will drop-off in the car park. The turning circle will be closed due to the icy surface conditions that prevail. No cars will be permitted to drive up to the turning circle.
- Tomorrow we will operate an hour delay start-time. This means that you should not feel under pressure to arrive at school by 8:45am, although school will be open from the usual time. If you are able to make it to school, we will expect to see you by 9:45am. Please remember: only make journeys where it is safe to do so.
