Academics

It is important that the children come into school happy so that the teachers have pupils who are willing to learn.  We have a rigorous academic programme for all the children.  We treat them as individuals and keep class sizes to a maximum of twenty, this enables us to concentrate on the needs of all the children.

Drama

Our lively productions have always been an integral part of life at St Joseph’s In The Park.  Appearing on stage gives the children confidence, through public speaking, team work and the knowledge of a successful production.

Music

Music has always been an integral part of school life at St Joseph’s In The Park.  The children have lessons with a specialist teacher from the Pre School to Junior Four.  Throughout the year music is central to all our productions and assemblies.

Assessment

Throughout the school the children will be assessed both formally and informally.  This starts from the time they arrive in The Pre School with the QCA Foundation Stage Profile.  As they move through the Infants their reading and listening skills are assessed and in Infant Three (Year 2) the Key Stage 1 Standardised Tests (SAT’s) are taken.

In the Pre School, the Infants and the Juniors there are two written formal reports and two Parents Evenings.
